OUTLOOK

Di Palma presided over a remarkable turnaround, leading Savanna to the Southern Section Division VI championship after the Rebels were 3-6-1 in 1992. What’s more, the title run followed a third-place finish in league play. The Rebels might not win another section title this season, but they have the strength and speed--lots of speed--needed to keep fans cheering. Several jobs are open on the offensive and defensive lines, but the talent is there. Although Paul Waldrop, who led Orange County quarterbacks in passing efficiency during the regular season, has graduated, Di Palma believes he has a competent replacement in Klemp. Waldrop’s backup last season, Klemp will work with several quality receivers. King and Flores provide a skilled backfield. Di Palma is excited about the potential of Warden, the starting signal-caller for the JV team in 1993.
