OUTLOOK
Carter, an Anaheim assistant for three seasons, takes over after the two-year reign of Todd Borowski, who twice guided the Colonists to the Southern Section Division VI playoffs. Carter played tailback at USC from 1971-75; you can probably guess his offensive preference. And thanks to Reuben Droughns, Anaheim might have the top rushing offense in Orange County. As a sophomore, Droughns gained 2,039 yards and scored 18 touchdowns, and was chosen Cal-Hi Sports sophomore player of the year. Anaheim’s success, however, is not contingent on Droughns’ legs alone. Carter expects the Colonists’ defense to win some games, too. Reuben’s brothers, Robert Droughns and Nowden, are integral parts of the defense.
