Dissolving District Isn’t That Easy
* Regarding your article about Tri-Cities Municipal Water District (“3 Candidates Want to Vote Themselves Out of Jobs,” Aug. 18):
The Orange County Local Agency Formation Commission is studying the spheres of influence for Orange County special districts as a prerequisite to possible consolidations in Orange County.
The procedures and findings required by the California Government Code must be followed.
It is not a simple matter of a board of directors voting to dissolve a district.
As a member of the consolidation committee, I have been working with the LAFCO staff to provide the necessary information. Tri-Cities is in discussions with adjoining districts on possible consolidation scenarios if a consolidation is recommended.
