San Diego State can still move the ball, even without Marshall Faulk.

Tim Gutierrez unveiled the Aztecs’ no-huddle offense with a near-perfect performance Saturday night, passing for 248 yards and four touchdowns as the Aztecs routed Navy, 56-14.

“There was no stopping us,” Gutierrez said. “We wanted everybody to see what this Aztec offense is all about. . . . Once we get rolling, we’re going, we’re fast-breaking. We’re going to move the ball.”

San Diego State outgained Navy, 503 yards to 232.

The victory marked the debut of Ted Tollner, a former USC coach who was named San Diego State’s 14th head coach in December.

Navy, which has lost six in a row dating to last season, had four consecutive turnovers in the first half, including three interceptions thrown by Jim Kubiak. San Diego State scored after three of the turnovers, starting drives from the Navy 28, 34 and 28.

Gutierrez completed his first 10 passes for 112 yards before tight end Zach Smith dropped a pass. Gutierrez, who left after the first drive of the second half, completed 21 of 25 passes, with no interceptions and one sack.

“He was very impressive,” Tollner said. “He makes good decisions and throws a very accurate and catchable ball.”
