OUTLOOK
Denny takes over this program divided. Turmoil has hurt the Diablos for the past few seasons. There have been plenty of distractions, from coaches who were fired to coaches who were hired, not to mention public disputes about their unofficial devil mascot. But hope abounds under Denny, a Mission Viejo assistant the past five seasons. Actually, if the off-the-field and behind-closed-doors problems are resolved, the Diablos could have a good season. Moherman was a find at quarterback. He drove the Diablos to a field goal against Mater Dei on his first varsity series. Moherman threw two touchdown passes in a 42-0 victory over Dana Hills. Keneley is a force on defense. He was a first-team all-league selection a year ago. The offense and defensive lines are solid, but skill position players lack experience. Somewhere, the Diablos must find a running game. But compared to the program’s past woes, that should be child’s play.
