FOUNTAIN VALLEY : Permit Reapplication Ordinance Weighed
Business owners who were denied a city permit to operate may have to wait a year before reapplying.
The City Council this week introduced an ordinance that would impose the waiting period when a business permit is rejected. The council is expected to give final adoption of the ordinance at its Sept. 20 meeting.
Currently, if a business permit is denied, there could be a reapplication within a month or two, even sooner, said Donald L. Heinbuch, administrative services manager.
In addition, Heinbuch said the waiting period gives the city a break since there is an extensive application process for these special business permits. There is a detailed application, investigation and hearing process for business permits such as bingo, massage, pawnbrokers, billiard halls and other businesses that require special investigations.
But those procedures do not specify a waiting period after denial before a new application can be submitted.
