Simi Valley Uses Defense to Defeat Ventura, 17-7
SIMI VALLEY — J.J. Washington’s 48-yard punt return midway through the fourth quarter set up quarterback Tim Bennett’s two-yard run to cap Simi Valley High’s 17-7 victory over Ventura on Friday night in a nonleague game at Simi Valley.
The Simi Valley defense, led by linemen Sean Ginnever and Chris Campagna, held Ventura deep in its own territory most of the game.

Davis led all rushers with 134 yards in 19 carries.
Ginnever recovered a Ventura fumble on the Cougars’ first play of the game, setting up running back Jason May’s five-yard scoring run one play later.
May carried 12 times for 51 yards.
Tim Wolleck added a 37-yard field goal to complete Simi Valley’s scoring in the first half.
