LAGUNA NIGUEL : Sheriff to Display Crime-Fighting Gear
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department is expected to show off some of it newest crime-fighting equipment during the third annual Red Alert Safety Show on Saturday at the Plaza de la Paz Shopping Center.
The show, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will include local displays and exhibits on safety awareness. The U. S. Marines will also have vehicles from Desert Storm there, and a search and rescue unit.
The program includes visits from Ronald McDonald, Smokey Bear, McGruff the crime prevention dog, and Skippy, Spike and Wise Owl Mike from the program Drug Abuse is Life Abuse.
Fingerprinting for children will be available through the Laguna Niguel police services, and several live entertainment events have been scheduled.
The event begins with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Crown Valley Kiwanis Club. Tickets are $3, and proceeds benefit club projects, including the Aliso Niguel High School Key Club, Crown Valley Elementary School, R.H. Dana School, and the Head Start & Kiwanis Children Vaccination Project.
