Docents Sought for Historical Park
The Simi Valley Historical Society is looking for residents with a strong interest in history, a healthy dose of patience and plenty of free time to volunteer as docents at the Strathearn Historical Park.
The park, situated off Madera Road, is a popular city landmark that showcases the artifacts and old homes of the city’s founding families and the Native Americans who lived here before them.
Tours are given year-round, but extra volunteer guides are needed during the school year when large groups of children visit the park.
Docents will undergo 12 hours of training over three days and will begin leading students on hourlong tours in early October, docent Seree Schnepf said.
Of the 10 positions available, two have been filled. For more information, call Schnepf at 583-1956.
