CLAREMONT : Clinton to Name Professor to U.S. Holocaust Council
President Clinton announced Tuesday that he will appoint a Claremont McKenna College philosophy professor to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.
The council, established in 1979, oversees the Holocaust Memorial Museum, which opened last year in Washington, and organizes the annual commemoration of the Days of Remembrance.
John Roth, 54, was named National Professor of the Year in 1988 by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. He has written or edited more than 20 books, including “Approaches to Auschwitz: The Holocaust and Its Legacy” and “Different Voices: Women and the Holocaust.”
