1993: 19-2 overall, 12-0 in the Olympic League. Won Southern Section Division IV championship, lost to San Jose Archbishop Mitty in the State Division IV final.
Key returners: Lynn Lovingier, 5-10, outside hitter, Sr.; Courtney Owens, 5-9, outside hitters, Sr.; Beth Prigmore, 5-10, middle blocker, Jr.; Jenny Roberts, 6-2, middle blocker, Jr.; Sara Roberts, 5-6, outside hitter, Sr.; Kensy Zeuleta, 5-6, setter, Jr.
Key newcomers: Maryjane Dinnie, 5-7, outside hitter, Sr.; Whitney Hoover, 5-6, setter, So.
Outlook: Expectations are high at Calvary Chapel. Owens, the Division V player of the year last season, is being recruited by Colorado and UC Santa Barbara among others, and Lovingier is also receiving attention from Division I universities. They would be the first Calvary Chapel girls to receive Division I athletic scholarships. Downey will give the Eagles stern tests by playing a tough nonleague schedule, including Newport Harbor and Corona del Mar. The Eagles also will play in Division I of the Orange County Championships.
