Countywide : Events Will Mark Airport’s 4th Year
The fourth anniversary of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal at John Wayne Airport will be marked with a public celebration from noon to 5 p.m. today. Among the highlights will be a fashion show of flight attendant uniforms dating from the 1930s to the present.
Other activities at the free event will include a performance by the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Band, storytelling by children’s book author Sandy Ross, and displays of aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment.
There will also be a tribute to Supervisor Thomas F. Riley, a dedication of the newly installed Freedom Shrine sponsored by Orange County Exchange Clubs, a talk by Medal of Honor recipient Walter Ehlers, refreshments, and prize drawings for airline tickets and gift items.
