SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP
Oak Park 37, Calabasas 13-Quarterback Ron Allen’s 22-yard pass to Eric Ruhle early in the second quarter began the scoring and triggered host Oak Park’s rout.
The scoring pass followed a blocked punt by defensive end Mike Waters deep in Coyote territory. From then on it was all Oak Park (2-0).
Oak Park continually shut down the Calabasas running attack forcing the Coyotes to put the ball in the air.
That led to interceptions by defensive backs Billy Mitchell and Tyler Blondi, the latter of whom returned it 44 yards to the Calabasas one-yard line in the second quarter.
Eagle running back Ryan Johnson led all rushers with 69 in nine carries. Allen completed eight of 16 for 98 yards and two touchdowns.
