Orange County’s reputation as an exclusively white enclave is not altogether accurate. Nonwhites make up about one-third of the county’s 2.5 million people. Latinos, who comprise about two-thirds of the county’s minority population, are heavily concentrated in Santa Ana--a city that is itself two-thirds Latino. Newport Beach has highest percentage of whites: more than 90% of approximately 70,000 residents. Overall county ethnic breakdown:

“Contemporary Issues of the Criminal Justice System” will be the topic of Orange County Dist. Atty. Michael R. Capizzi’s talk at this morning’s Fountain Valley Mayor’s Breakfast.

The 8 a.m. event, hosted by Mayor John Collins, will be in the Saltzer Conference Room at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, 17100 Euclid St.
