Cross About Insurer’s Plans for Foundation
I was amazed at the article announcing a giveaway by Blue Cross of $2 billion accumulated while it was a nonprofit corporation (“Blue Cross Plans to Use $2 Billion for Foundation,” Sept. 16). My wife and I have been members of Blue Cross and paid regular premiums for more than 20 years, and they have increased considerably over our complaints. We just paid our current quarterly premiums, amounting to $1,107, which is approximately our Social Security check for the month. Blue Cross now takes 25% of our annual Social Security income.
Why do the state regulators want to give the policyholders’ money to someone else? Why not work out a distribution plan to return $2 billion to those of us who put all of that money into Blue Cross’ coffers?
