Garden Grove 28, Sonora 24--Ruben Reyna rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner, in a nonleague game.

Garden Grove’s first victory of the season offset a strong performance by Sonora’s Mark Gonzalez. The 6-4 senior tight end caught nine passes for 171 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown that gave the Raiders (1-2) a 14-7 first-quarter lead.

It was the third of six lead changes.

Garden Grove trailed, 17-7, with 4:55 left in the first half, when Reyna struck for his first score, darting 49 yards down the sideline. The Argonauts (1-2) moved ahead with 34 seconds remaining in the half, when Troy Haller completed his second touchdown pass to Brian Jones, this for two yards. Earlier, they hooked up on Garden Grove’s first score, a 63-yard pass. Jones caught four of Haller’s seven completions for 86 yards.
