El Cajon Christian 28, Brethren Christian 20--The Patriots came north to play Brethren Christian, a team that has had its number the past couple of years, and won at Artesia High School.
The Patriots were led by quarterback Daniel Jeremiah, who passed for 215 yards and one touchdown. El Cajon Christian also got two rushing touchdowns from Duret Gray.
El Cajon Christian scored first when Gray ran in from eight yards.
Late in the first half, El Cajon Christian had good field position after a punt. Jeremiah finished the drive with a six-yard strike to Doyle, to give the Patriots a 13-0 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Warriors took advantage of a bad snap on a punt attempt, and recovered the ball on the Patriots’ four-yard line. Dan Muilenburg scored on the next play.
Late in the third quarter, the Warriors got another break, when Theo Dennis recovered a fumble to set up Brethren Christian at the El Cajon Christian 25. Five plays later, Babcock scored on a quarterback sneak.
Late in the game, Babcock hooked up with Mike Harriman for a 63-yard touchdown pass, but that was as close as the Warriors got.
