Passengers Off First, Pests Second in Chile
Chile has become the first country to stop spraying insecticide on arriving airplanes while passengers are still aboard. In July, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Federico Pena launched a campaign to get the practice stopped worldwide. Twenty-four countries and territories remain on the department’s list of pesticide perpetrators.
