LOS ANGELES : Wilson Names Professor, Executives as UC Regents
Gov. Pete Wilson has appointed Velma Montoya and Tom Sayles of Los Angeles and David S. Lee of Los Altos Hills to the University of California Board of Regents.
Montoya, 56, is a former associate professor of finance at Cal Poly Pomona and adjunct professor at the Pepperdine University School of Business. She is currently a member of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
Sayles, 43, is vice president of public affairs for Southern California Gas Co. and was formerly Wilson’s Cabinet secretary for the Transportation and Housing Agency and served as Wilson’s commissioner of corporations.
Lee, 57, is chairman of the board of Cortelco Systems Holding Corp. Regents require state Senate confirmation. The posts are unpaid.
