Reuben Droughns
Anaheim, Junior
Football/Running back
Droughns, who rushed for 2,039 yards last season, is showing no signs of slowing down. Friday, he rushed for 278 yards and three touchdowns and led the Colonists to a 20-7 upset of then-No. 3 Irvine. It was the type of performance that doesn’t usually happen against Irvine, which has won three consecutive section titles. “Nothing comes easily against a team like that,” Anaheim Coach Allen Carter said. “And I think they were kind of waiting for him. He deserved every yard he got.” Because Droughns slightly sprained his ankle in the last minute of the game, Carter said he will be held out of practice early this week, but Droughns is expected to play Friday against Cypress.
