OXNARD : Motorcyclist Killed in Crash Is Identified
Authorities on Sunday identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a weekend head-on collision as Danny Lee Becker, 40, of Oxnard.
Becker was killed instantly Saturday along Pacific Coast Highway when he struck a car driven by Shannon Orick, 19, of Oxnard.
California Highway Patrol officials said Becker was driving north on the southbound lanes of the highway for unknown reasons when he hit Orick’s car.
A spokesman at St. John’s Regional Medical Center listed Orick’s condition Sunday as serious.
Two passengers--Elizabeth Espinoza, 19, and Xiomara Neadeau, 17, both of Oxnard--were treated for injuries and released, officials said.
CHP officials said Becker was driving north in the southbound lanes of the highway about 7:15 p.m. when he struck the vehicle driven by Orick head-on. Orick’s car rolled over onto the northbound lanes and crashed through a chain-link fence before coming to rest.
The highway was closed for three hours Saturday night while investigators cleared the wreckage.
A Ventura County coroner’s official said Becker was unemployed. He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Mary Becker of Oregon.
An autopsy was scheduled for today, Senior Deputy Coroner Mitch Breese said Sunday.
