SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
Join the Lunch Bunch --or Get It Delivered
San Juan Capistrano Senior Program hosts noontime meals for older adults and delivers meals to homebound seniors. The meals are served daily at the San Juan Capistrano Senior Nutrition Center, 31421 La Matanza St. A $1.75 donation is requested. For reservations, call (714) 493-5921.
Home-delivered meals are intended for seniors who are unable to shop and cook for themselves. The meals are delivered between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. For information or to volunteer as a driver, call (714) 493-5921.
GARDEN GROVE
Going for the Gold at the Senior Games
No one is ever too old to play.
That’s the concept behind the fifth annual Senior Games, which is expected to attract hundreds of participants.
The Friday and Saturday event will be at the H. Louis Lake Senior Citizens Center.
Participants will compete in billiards, Frisbee, shuffleboard, a half-mile walk, checkers, golf putting, horseshoe throwing and table tennis. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each event.
The games are open to anyone 50 or older. The registration fee is $10. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and prize bag and join in a picnic with entertainment Saturday.
PLACENTIA
Learn the Crafts of Painting, Carving
The Placentia Senior Center is looking for seniors to join its arts and handwork classes.
A new oil painting class will be forming this month for novices and those who just want to brush up. Dates and times will depend on response.
Seniors can enjoy a woodworking class under the instruction of master craftsmen who will demonstrate relief carving, carving in the round, swill chip carving, marquetry and other techniques. A $1 donation is requested for the woodworking class Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the center, 143 S. Bradford Ave.

IRVINE
Assistance Programs Offered Monthly
Monthly programs at the Lakeview Senior Center in Irvine include:
Legal aid: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.
Financial planning: 9 a.m. to noon on the second Thursday of each month.
Medicare counseling: 9 a.m. to noon on the second Tuesday and the fourth Monday of each month.
Blood pressure check: Noon to 1 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.
