University, Insurer Mull Health Care Venture: Duke University and a New York Life Insurance Co. unit said they are discussing forming the joint venture to provide managed health care services in North Carolina. Duke administrators said the deal, if completed, would be the largest of its kind between an academic medical center and a health insurer. “Our expectation is that this model will be one we adopt in other areas of the country,” said Joseph Lynaugh, chief executive of New York Life’s Sanus Corp. Health Systems.
