CALABASAS : Harvard Scholar to Open Soka Lectures

A talk by Cornel West, a professor of religion and African American studies at Harvard University, will launch Soka University’s Human Rights Lecture Series.

West, a scholar of institutional racism, is the author of such works as “Race Matters,” “Keeping Faith: Philosophy of Race in America” and “Prophecy Deliverance! An Afro-American Revolutionary Christianity.”

He will speak at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Soka’s Calabasas campus, 26800 W. Mulholland Highway.

Future topics in the lecture series, which will continue through next year, include vegetarianism and solar activity.
