FOUNTAIN VALLEY — Police are investigating a traffic accident in which an unidentified jogger was struck and critically injured Thursday night.
The victim, a woman, was hit just before 7:30 p.m. near Magnolia Street and Martin Avenue, Sgt. Keith Levin said. Several passersby, who had emergency medical training, provided assistance until the woman could be transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange with severe head injuries.
Levin said the woman was struck by a Nissan pickup truck driven by Jung Kim, of Garden Grove, who was traveling north on Magnolia. However, it was not certain how the accident occurred, he said, adding that it was not alcohol or drug related.
Police request that anyone who might have witnessed the incident or who may know the woman’s identity call Fountain Valley police at (714) 965-4487.
