PREP ROUNDUP : Foothill Routs University in Water Polo, 16-7

University led by a goal after one quarter, but fourth-ranked Foothill outscored the Trojans by six goals in the second quarter and went on to a 16-7 victory in nonleague water polo Friday at Foothill High.

Jeff Pflueger and Brian Brown each scored four goals and Ryan Brown had six saves for the Knights (8-2). University (9-7) led, 4-3, at the end of the first quarter.

In other nonleague water polo:

La Habra 10, Edison 4--Dan Ploog scored five goals and Rashad Captan added four for host La Habra (15-6).

Trabuco Hills 15, Irvine 10--Jimmy Bray and Jayson Gatzke had six goals each for visiting Trabuco Hills (9-6). Jeff Higley had three goals and Brian McCall had nine saves for host Irvine (6-9).

Tustin 18, Downey 7--David Foley led all scorers with five goals for the Tillers (9-5, 0-1).

In pool play of the Cerritos water polo tournament:

Cypress 17, Long Beach Jordan 1--Mark Slezcove had four goals and David Watkins had 13 saves for Cypress (7-4). In an earlier game, Cypress defeated Cerritos Whitney, 23-11. Joshua Binford had a career-high nine goals and Scott Edwards added five for the Centurions.

In Sea View League girls’ tennis:

Santa Margarita 17, El Toro 1--Tracy Keyser swept her No. 1 single sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for Santa Margarita (7-5, 1-2).

Woodbridge 15, Irvine 3--Natalie Exon swept her singles matches, 6-4, 6-2, 6-0, for host Woodbridge (10-2, 2-1).

In nonleague girls’ tennis:

El Dorado 13, Valencia 5--Michelle Weisz and Linda Surapruik each swept their matches to lead visiting El Dorado (11-5). Valencia is 5-6.

Laguna Beach 13, Hollywood Harvard Westlake 5--No. 2 singles’ player Lindsay Weiss won her matches for second-ranked Laguna Beach, 7-5, 6-1, 6-3. In No. 3 doubles, Summer Terry and Kim Woodhouse swept their sets for Laguna Beach (11-1).

In Golden West League girls’ volleyball:

Ocean View 3, Saddleback 0--Beth Henshaw had nine kills for Ocean View (6-0, 2-0), which won, 15-6, 15-7, 15-11.

Tustin 3, Santa Ana 0--Michelle Kowalski had six kills to lead Tustin (5-2, 2-0) over Santa Ana 15-0, 15-1, 15-0. Stacey Pedersen had four service aces to lead the Tillers.
