SATICOY : 3 Men Wounded by Gang Gunfire
Three men were shot in an exchange of gunfire between rival gang members in a Saticoy neighborhood, Ventura County sheriff’s officials said Sunday.
Deputies were called to the intersection of Amapola Avenue and Violeta Street in Saticoy about 7:45 p.m. Saturday after neighbors reported a disturbance.
When they arrived, deputies found evidence of a gunfight outside a house where some Santa Paula gang members were having a party, investigators said.
Within minutes, two gunshot victims arrived at Ventura County Medical Center and another arrived at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, deputies said.
Injured in the exchange were James Augustine Campos, a 19-year-old Saticoy man who was treated at Ventura County Medical Center for a gunshot wound to his leg before being released, and Freddy Joe Lopez, 27, of Santa Paula, who was listed in stable condition Sunday at Ventura County Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his stomach, officials said.
Investigators said Richard Villarreal, 16, of Saticoy, was wounded in the hand and shoulder, but officials at Community Memorial Hospital would not discuss his condition because he is a minor.
No arrests have been made.
