MOORPARK : Board Delays Pact on New Health Clinic
A decision on a $306,000 agreement to operate a health clinic in Moorpark has been put off for a week by the County Board of Supervisors.
County Counsel James L. McBride told supervisors Tuesday that minor work needed to be done on the specific language of the agreement, which would appoint a Ventura County Medical Center physician to run the hospital’s satellite clinic.
The county agreed earlier this year to build a clinic of about 2,000 square feet on Princeton Avenue in Moorpark, replacing a center that was closed last year due to structural problems.
But Supervisor Vicky Howard questioned the delay.
“This clinic has been closed almost a year now,” she said. “I’d like to see it opened before the end of the year.”
Hospital Administrator Pierre Durand told board members that construction on the new facility had already begun.
“We’re working very hard to meet that commitment” of opening before 1995, he said.
The clinic averaged about 50 patients a week when it was closed last year, said Dr. Richard Ashby, who will oversee the new medical office.
