Clippers Play Magic in First Exhibition
Elmore Spencer is expected to start in place of center Stanley Roberts when the Clippers open their exhibition season tonight against the Orlando Magic at the Orlando Arena.
Roberts, who hasn’t practiced with the team after reporting to training camp overweight and out of shape, didn’t accompany the team on the trip, which ends Saturday with a game against the Atlanta Hawks at the Omni.
Spencer, who started 63 games after Roberts suffered a torn right Achilles’ tendon last season, has been hampered by a strained groin during two-a-day workouts.
