American, Flight Attendants to Begin Arbitration: The airline and the Assn. of Professional Flight Attendants will begin six weeks of arbitration hearings today, nearly one year after the carrier was crippled by a strike. A three-member arbitration panel will render a decision on contract issues including pay, staffing, prefunding of retiree health benefits and vacation, with a final decision not expected until next spring or summer.
