The U.S. Postal Service has announced that Richard Ordonez of Oxnard has been named district manager of the Van Nuys Customer Service District, an area that stretches from Pasadena to San Luis Obispo to the Mojave Desert.

“We have to continually strive to improve,” said Ordonez in a statement. “I believe we are headed in the right direction.”

The district, which serves 4.5 million residents, covers nearly 35,000 square miles, said Terri Bouffiou, a spokeswoman for the Postal Service. The district has about 8,000 employees at more than 100 facilities.
