Montclair Prep Adds 2 Games to Depleted Football Schedule
Montclair Prep has filled two of its four open dates, scheduling games with Sherman Indian High and California School for the Deaf, both of Riverside.
The Mounties (4-1), who have not played since Oct. 6, travel to Sherman Indian on Oct. 28 for a 7 p.m. game and play at CSDR on Nov. 3 at 2:30 p.m.
Ganesha of Pomona is Montclair Prep’s final regular-season opponent Nov. 11. The Mounties began the season with an eight-game schedule, but Mar Vista and Cerritos canceled before the start.

The Moorpark High football team has lost running back-defensive back Jose Ceja for at least four weeks because of a knee injury. Ceja, a 5-11, 170-pound senior, rushed for 77 yards, had an interception, caused a fumble and made 12 tackles Saturday in a 45-10 victory over Santa Clara.
Ceja, a three-year letterman, probably will miss a Nov. 4 showdown at Nordhoff, which figures to decide the Frontier League championship.

Derek Pope of Ojai, a freshman at Indiana, captured the singles championship of the Ball State Men’s Collegiate Invitational in Muncie, Ind. Pope, who won six matches, defeated John James of Indiana State, 6-4, 6-1 in the final. The only match Pope did not win in straight sets was a second-round victory over Miami of Ohio’s Chris Richie, 6-3, 6-7 (7-5), 7-6 (7-5). Pope and teammate Eric Bennett lost in the doubles final.
