CITY SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Logan Soars for San Fernando
San Fernando High quarterback Larry Logan broke Anthony Davis’ 25-year-old single-game school record with 308 yards passing to lead the Tigers to a 42-28 victory over Birmingham in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night at Birmingham.
Davis had passed for 289 yards in 1969.
Logan, a junior making his first varsity start, completed 12 of 19 passes with four touchdowns and also ran 25 yards for another score as San Fernando (4-3, 3-1) amassed 468 yards.
Keijuan Douglas moved from quarterback to wide receiver and caught five passes--two for touchdowns--and 132 yards.
A trick play brought the Braves (3-4, 0-4) to within seven late in the game. Ten Birmingham players stood to the far left of the ball and the snap went directly to fullback Marvin Powell. Powell ran past the befuddled Tigers for a 70-yard touchdown.
Birmingham quarterback Paul Prince completed five of 10 for 182 yards and a touchdown.
Jason Howard had three catches for 137 yards.
