Motorcyclist Dies After Sliding Into Oncoming Traffic
A Corona man was killed Saturday when he lost control of his motorcycle on Ortega Highway one mile east of San Juan Creek and slid into the path of two oncoming cars, authorities said.
The 24-year-old motorcyclist, whose name is being withheld pending the notification of relatives, was traveling east on the highway at about 50 m.p.h. when he lost traction and crossed into the path of Hector Campos, 42, of Fallbrook, and Donald Schoolcraft, 30, of Hemet, said Michael Bell, a California Highway Patrol spokesman.
The cyclist was struck first by Campos’ Ford pickup and then by Schoolcraft’s Nissan Pulsar. Campos was treated at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo for minor injuries and released. Schoolcraft was uninjured.
