SOUTHLAND ROUNDUP : Lundquist Leads Occidental Over Claremont
David Glassmire kicked a 35-yard field goal with 7:56 remaining in the third quarter to lead Occidental to a 22-21 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Claremont at Occidental.
Davin Lundquist rushed for 167 yards and one touchdown in 23 carries and completed five-of-11 passes for 91 yards for Occidental, 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the SCIAC.
John Shipp completed 20 of 32 for 353 yards and two touchdowns for Claremont (2-4, 1-2), but was sacked eight times for minus-98 yards.
Danny Reynolds scored four touchdowns to lead Whittier, 1-5 overall and 1-3 in SCIAC, to a 26-21 victory over Pomona-Pitzer (1-5, 0-4) at Pomona. Reynolds scored the winning touchdown on a 29-yard run with 6:03 to play to give the Poets their first victory of the season. Ryan Campuzano completed five of six passes for three touchdowns and 63 yards and ran for two more touchdowns to lead La Verne, 6-0 overall and 4-0 in SCIAC, to a 35-20 conference victory over Redlands (3-2-1, 2-1) at La Verne. . . . Ryan Huisenga completed 11-of-23 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns to lead Cal Lutheran (2-4) to a 43-14 nonconference victory over Azusa Pacific (1-5) at Azusa Pacific. . . . Arnold Mickers rushed for 263 yards and scored two touchdowns as Butler defeated San Diego, 38-21, in a Pioneer Football League game at Butler.
