Probst Landscaping

Your recent articles made it sound like the Thousand Oaks City Council shamefully abandoned all of its principles when it recently approved the appeal of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Probst to landscape their hillside on Westlake Boulevard.

What the articles did not make clear was that the Planning Commission’s own staff approved the project, that the homeowners association gave its blessing to the landscaping (but not the related storage facility), that the Probst’s property is not contiguous to any existing dedicated open space (and is located amid other fully landscaped, residential properties) and that the proposed park-like project is fully supported by the great majority of the area’s residents.

The City Council is to be commended for its wise decision and Westlake Village/Thousand Oaks will be even more visually attractive as a consequence.
