Coast Guard Hunts for Boat Reported Sinking Quickly

The Coast Guard continued searching Thursday night for a boat between Dana Point and Catalina Island whose skipper had radioed that he was taking on water and had five minutes left before sinking.
A Coast Guard officer said the patrol overheard a radio broadcast in which the unidentified skipper told an unidentified listener that he was going down quickly. The skipper never sent out a Mayday call.
Two helicopters, a jet and several vessels were expected to search throughout the night and into today, or until they found something, the Coast Guard officer said.
