OUTLOOK

Second-year Coach Marrujo is going to find it tough to match last season’s third-place leaguefinish. With the addition of Capistrano Valley Christian to the league, Connelly is going to find it hard to improve on last year’s three league victories. The Koalas return only four lettermen from last season’s team and two starters. Connelly will miss Kirsten Cappel most, the team’s leading scoring last season who averaged 19 points and was a first-team all-league selection. Cervantes, a senior, is going to have to pick up the slack and to do that she must improve on her eight-point average. Rana will bring the only other starting experience to the team. She averaged five points last season and was an all-league honorable mention pick. Boardman joins the team after playing soccer last year. Marrujo hopes at 5 feet 10, she can give the team an inside game. The lack of experience probably will be the team’s downfall, but with the new league alignment, each team will face each other three times, which could give the Koalas a chance for some upsets along the way.
