Executive Named Winner of 1994 Good Scout Award
Parker Kennedy, president of both First American Financial Corp. and First American Title Insurance Co., won the 1994 Good Scout Award from the Orange County Council of Boy Scouts of America last week.
Kennedy said he was not only honored but surprised by the award.
“I was not honored because of my ability as a Scout,” he said. In fact, he said, he could not remember any particular thing at which he excelled in Scouting when he was a child. “I had no clue,” he recalled.
He was chosen for the contributions his companies have made to the Scouts--some $4,000 each year plus money from special events, said Shannon Paradzick of the council.
“Scouting is especially important for the young boys and girls who do not necessarily get a lot of encouragement for what they do,” Kennedy told the council at the 13th Annual Construction Industry Good Scout Award Luncheon on Friday.
The Orange County Council of the Scouts chooses a representative from the construction industry each year for the award, Paradzick said. “They have been very supportive,” she said of the First American companies. The annual construction luncheon alone raises about $132,000, she said.
