In other nonleague boys’ basketball:
Canyon 55, Ocean View 54--Jeff Llewellyn scored a game high 18 to give Canyon (1-4) its first victory of the season. Teammate Tim Tynan added 10 points.
Cypress 77, Santa Ana 51--Chad Boberg led all scorers with 20 points as Cypress (4-1) defeated Santa Ana. Brett Boulton added 10 points and seven rebounds for Cypress.
Orange 48, Valencia 36--Matt Ross scored 14 points and Danny Garcia scored 13 points to lead host Orange (5-0). James Rivera had 13 points for Valencia (2-3).
Rancho Alamitos 67, Kennedy 60--Justin Zuschlag scored a game-high 28 points to lead Rancho Alamitos (3-1). Randy Parrish paced Kennedy with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Santa Margarita 82, Long Beach Millikan 57--Dennis Keane scored 17 point and Nick Maroutsos scored 12 points to lead Santa Margarita (4-0).
Troy 77, El Dorado 65--Jeff Sand’s 25 points led host Troy (2-3) to a victory over El Dorado (3-2). James Hampson added 19 points, including five three-pointers, for Troy. Robbie Sammons led El Dorado with 16 points and nine rebounds.
Villa Park 67, Western 65--Eric Chenowith, a 6-10 sophomore, had 24 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots for visiting Villa Park (2-1). John Steving added 11 for the Spartans.
Brett Vernon scored 20 points and Paul Lindemeyer added 17 for Western.
Whittier Christian 66, Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe 55--Edward Zieman scored 19 points and Trevor Ream added another 13 to lead host Whittier Christian (3-2).
In the second round of the Costa Mesa tournament:
Bolsa Grande 50, Saddleback 35--David Price scored 15 points for Bolsa Grande (2-3). John Gallagos had 14 points and six rebounds for Saddleback.
Century 63, University 43--Hector Beltran scored 14 points to lead Century into the semifinals tonight against Fullerton. Gabriel Aguirre and Sekayi White added 12 points each for the Centurions (3-0).
Steve McKee of University was the game’s leading scorer with 16 points.
In a consolation game:
Southern California Christian 78, Chino Boys Republic 42--Josh Cameron scored 25 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Southern California Christian (3-1).
In the Cougar Classic Tournament:
Claremont 45, La Verne Calvary Baptist 43--Ryan Cronkite scored 12 points to lead Claremont (4-0). Steve Kimble and Brent Matsuno each had 10 points for the Cougars.
In the Glendora Tournament:
Brea-Olinda 68, Ontario 65--Matt Bodiford scored 15 points and John Norum scored 14 for Brea (3-2). Jeff Kirk scored 21 points, including four three-pointers, for Ontario.
In quarterfinals of the In-N-Out Converse Classic:
Santa Ana Valley 54, Long Beach Jordan 47--Michael Riggins scored 19 points and Olujimi Mann added 16 for Santa Ana Valley (3-1), which outscored Jordan 19-7 in the fourth quarter.
Sonora 67, Lynwood 55--Chad Fister scored 23 points and Craig Clark added 16 for Sonora, which advances to play Tustin.
Trabuco Hills 57, Long Beach Poly 43--Nick Punto and Jon Paisley scored 19 points each for Trabuco Hills (3-0). Punto made five three-point baskets and Paisley had 10 rebounds.
Rob Warnick added 13 points for Trabuco Hills.
Tustin 62, Capistrano Valley 33--Doug Gottlieb scored 25 points and David Lalazarian added 16 for Tustin. The Tillers led, 30-10, at halftime. Capistrano Valley is 2-2.
In a consolation game:
Chino Hills Ayala 55, Esperanza 47--Josh Greer scored 23 points and Billy Omer added 11 for Esperanza (3-3). Esperanza only trailed, 29-26, at halftime, but Ayala outscored the Aztecs 13-6 in the third quarter to take control.
In a semifinal of the La Quinta tournament:
Katella 63, Laguna Beach 52--LaByron Clayton scored 20 points and Mike Phal scored 18 to lead Katella (7-0) in the championship semifinal.
Laguna Beach’s Brandon Block was the leading scorer with 27 points.
In a consolation game:
Garden Grove 71, Marina 38--Mike Campuzano scored 16 points for Garden Grove in consolation play.
