Weekend Box Office : Disclosure’ Is Hot on a Slow Weekend
Falling short of expectations, “Disclosure,” the steamy Warner Bros. drama about sexual harassment in the workplace starring Michael Douglas and Demi Moore took in $10 million on its debut, capturing first place at the box office in a largely lackluster weekend for most films. Warner Bros. had to have hoped that the film would do better, given the racy theme and major stars involved.
Meanwhile, Disney continued to cruise with the season’s major hit, “The Santa Clause.” The holiday comedy starring Tim Allen raked in another $8.9 million, sending its five-week total climbing toward the $100-million mark.
Coming in third place was Paramount Pictures’ “Drop Zone.” The action film starring Wesley Snipes just didn’t sizzle like the studio anticipated, grossing $6.1 million. “Interview With the Vampire,” which has taken in $95 million, dropped to seventh place after five weeks. The weekend total of $2.2 million was a 57% drop from the previous week.
