Bodnar wasn’t able to find too much room to run against the La Puente Bishop Amat defense Saturday in Mater Dei’s 28-21 victory in the Southern Section Division I title game, but he made the most of what he got. He rushed for only 68 yards in 24 carries, but scored the Monarchs’ final touchdown, a one-yarder that gave them a 28-10 lead. He caught two passes for 58 yards, including a spectacular 56-yard touchdown reception that gave them a 14-7 lead. Including kickoff returns, he had 164 all-purpose yards.

Scored two goals and solidified the Eagle defense after moving to stopper and helped his team win the Irvine tournament.

* Irvine, senior. Pinned Huck Finn of Villa Park to win the 135-pound title and help team win title of the Irvine tournament. Named the top wrestler of the lower weight classes.
