Northwest : BUENA PARK : High-Rise Ad Signs Approved by Council
- Share via
The county’s bond crisis helped City Council members quickly make one decision intended to boost the city’s image.
The council decided to allow a Santa Fe Springs company to build two 70- to 90-foot-high signs to carry advertising for auto dealers, entertainment areas and other businesses.
Exact locations for the signs have yet to be determined. But Rick Warsinski, assistant director of development services, said one of them, emphasizing auto dealers, will be beside the Santa Ana Freeway while the other, with entertainment advertising, will be beside the Artesia Freeway.
The city had an option of building similar signs itself and then charging for the advertising. But the cost to the city would have been up to $200,000 for each sign.
After some discussion, the council decided against the city’s building the signs and voted to hire the Santa Fe Springs company.
