Company Town : UIP Chief Extends Contract
Michael Williams-Jones has extended for five years his contract as head of London-based United International Pictures, the foreign distribution venture among MCA/Universal, Paramount Pictures and MGM/UA.
Williams-Jones is president and chief executive of UIP, which distributes movies from the three studios in about 170 countries. He is credited with expanding UIP into markets such as Korea, India and Turkey.
* Dennis Petroskey, top corporate communications executive at Fox Inc., will join BMG Entertainment as vice president of corporate communications, effective in March.
Petroskey has held the job at Fox since 1989.
At BMG, he will rejoin former 20th Century Fox President Strauss Zelnick, who started this week as head of BMG’s North American entertainment operations.
* Michelle Bega was promoted to vice president at Rogers & Cowan.
* Harvey Ganot was promoted to president of MTV Networks advertising and promotion sales. The MTV ad unit also promoted executives John Popkowski, Doug Rohrer, Sue Danaher and Todd Seigel.
