Santa Clarita / Antelope Valley : Officials Investigate Attack at Jail
SAUGUS — Officials on Thursday were trying to find out who was responsible for an attack at the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho that left two inmates in the hospital.
A group of four to six prisoners wearing masks attacked two other prisoners in the jail’s barracks about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Noel Lanier of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. In the attack, Lanier said, one prisoner’s leg was possibly broken and the other suffered puncture wounds to the right thigh, buttocks and back.
The injured prisoners were taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia, where they are expected to recover, Lanier said.
No weapon was recovered, he said.
