Maverick Guard Kidd Is Accused of Punching a Fan Who Sought Photo
DALLAS — Dallas Maverick rookie guard Jason Kidd is back in the off-court spotlight, this time for allegedly punching a fan who wanted a picture taken with him.
While leaving a New Year’s Eve party between 1:15 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. Sunday, the fan complained, Kidd slugged him twice in the face in an unprovoked attack after he requested the photograph with Kidd and his fiancee.
Kidd, 21, admits being involved in a confrontation but denies hitting the man, Bennie White, 34, of Carrollton, a Dallas suburb.
No charges had been filed as of Thursday.
“I just got fed up with them taking pictures, and I just went off, which I shouldn’t have done. But the situation has been taken care of,” Kidd told the Dallas Morning News.
