Northridge’s Clements Earns 2nd-Team Honor
Senior Missy Clements, an outside hitter for the Cal State Northridge women’s volleyball team, was named Friday to the All-West region second team by the American Volleyball Coaches Assn. for Division I schools.
Clements finished as the all-time kill leader for Northridge with 1,464. She also ranked 16th in the nation in kills, averaging 4.83 a game.
Northridge finished 23-8 and won the National Invitational volleyball championship in early December. Clements was named all-tournament.
Track and Field

Softball
Former Cal Lutheran standout Cheryl Aschenbach has been named softball coach at the University of Redlands.
She replaces Teri Rupe, who left for a position at Cal State Chico.
Aschenbach graduated from Cal Lutheran in 1993. She played basketball, softball and volleyball for the Regals.
As a catcher, she was All-Far West region and a National GTE Academic All-American in 1993.
The Shilos, a 16-and-under girls’ fast-pitch ASA team, is holding tryouts at 11 today at Cal State Northridge.
The team will compete in ASA tournaments during the summer.
