A Jan. 19 memorial service has been scheduled for William (Bill) Hale, the city of Thousand Oaks’ first public works director, who died last month. He was 60.

The Oxnard resident was cremated after his death on Dec. 19, and his son said the family decided to wait until after the holidays to hold the memorial service.

“He had a lot of friends that we wanted to attend,” said Mitchel Hale, who lives in Thousand Oaks.
