Canyon Upsets Santa Ana Valley
ANAHEIM HILLS — One game after Coach Rich Prospero resigned for personal reasons, third-ranked Santa Ana Valley was upset by unranked Canyon, 52-39, in a Century League boys’ basketball game Wednesday at Canyon High.
Canyon (7-11, 1-1) led by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter before Michael Riggins cut it to 48-42 with two three-pointers with less than two minutes left.
Tough defense by Adam Hoover and the Comanches held Olujimi Mann to six points before he fouled out. Tim Tynan had 14 points and Hoover had 12 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and five steals for Canyon.
Ike Harmon had 13 points for Santa Ana Valley (10-7, 1-1).
