The Toronto Blue Jays’ tryout camp at Pierce College has been postponed until Jan. 22. Players between the ages of 18 and 25 with professional experience are eligible.

Basketball

X-rays and an examination by Cal State Northridge doctors Friday showed that Ruben Oronoz hasa moderate left ankle sprain.

Oronoz, a junior forward, was injured Thursday night in a game against Nevada Las Vegas. He is expected to play next Friday night at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Track and Field

Sprinter Ramsey Jay of Ventura and distance runners Eleazar Hernandez of Camarillo, Antonio Arce of Palmdale and Amy Skieresz of Agoura head the list of local entries in the high school portion of the Sunkist Invitational at the Sports Arena on Feb. 18.

Jay, fourth in the 400 meters in last year’s state championships, is entered in the 440-yard dash.

Hernandez, fifth in last month’s Foot Locker national cross-country championships, will run in the two mile, and Arce, seventh in nationals, will compete in the mile.

Skieresz, the 1994 State Division II cross-country champion, has entered the girls’ mile.

Golf

Organizers of the Senior PGA Tour event at the Ojai Valley Inn, who last week rolled back ticket prices, are offering a two-for-one discount on clubhouse passes.

Clubhouse badges for the FHP Health Care Classic, formerly the GTE Classic, are two for $60. The passes are good for all seven days of tournament week, which runs Feb. 27 through March 5. The badges allow access to the clubhouse and tournament grounds.

Organizers also are seeking volunteers to serve as scorekeepers and course marshals.
